Puss in Box

The other day, I was going through Alex's closet, taking out clothes that don't fit anymore and making room for more. I found a forgotten box of beanie babies and pulled it off the shelf. When we moved to Utah, I put them up there until Alex was older. I opened it up and it was a bunch of kitties.

Fun, I thought. The kids will love these!

Keith came home that night and began to freak out.

Keith: Why are my kitties all over the floor!

Me: Those are your kitties? I just found them in Alex's closet. I didn't know where they came from.

Keith: {counting kitties} I had them in my apartment and one of them is missing. A white one. Where is my white kitty!

Me: {still confused} It has to be here somewhere. Is it a special kitty?

Keith: No, I just....I had them displayed in my apartment.

Me: You did? I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have dated you if you had kitties displayed in your apartment. You must have hid them before I came over everytime. I mean the action figure displays were almost a deal breaker.....

Keith: My Mom gave them to me when she gave up on me having kids. Let the kids have them...but I'm keeping the black one for myself. {Keith affectionately pets ZIP the Kitten.}

This is what Keith looked like when I met him....

We will be celebrating our 4 year anniversary next week. I am still amazed at the stuff I find out about my husband that cracks me up! And then I fall in love with him all over again!

Who loves kitty?! He needs to rename Zip, Hobbs. Then it will be Calvin and Hobbs!!

EatPlayLove said...

LOL! I keep a box of beanies in my daughter's closet as well, I only pull them out occasionally to let her play with them, so then they are more special. Not valuable, out of sight, more special.

Funny the things men sometimes collect that we don't think of as "manly." I think it's very cute he loves his little kitties so. My husband has a "Little House on the Prairie" doll collection and some others as well. We both like stuffed animals and have them all over our house!

Oh, that is too sweet!

"The action figure displays were almost a deal breaker" - when I met my hubs he had a poster sized cutaway diagram/map of the Starship Enterprise hanging above his bed. I married him anyway.

Amy said...

So funny! I love how possessive he was over it. Isn't the complexity of husbands intriguing?

Beth in NC said...

Over from SITS. Ok, I have to admit the puss collection would have been a HUGE turnoff to me too. I would have run the other way like my hair was on fire. Mercy.

Oh well, at least he only wanted one to pet -- uh, I guess that is better than all of them. :-/

Ha.
