Hey all,
Just a little global update.
As most of you know by now, my wife, Tracey, was suddenly taken critically ill with a bowel problem a little over 2 weeks ago. Leaving graphic details out, she miraculously survived several situations that have a very high mortality rate. Only when she had survived the first 72 hours, were we even able to start considering ever leaving the hospital. She had 4 surgeries between Saturday (9/20) and Thursday (9/25), then came off sedation and the respirator on Friday (9/26). Though recovery is not a linear process, she has been consistently improving. From where she started, the baby steps look like leaps and bounds.
She “graduated” from the ICU last night after “only” 15 days, versus the 3-4 weeks originally predicted, if she survived that long. She is alert and getting stronger every day. She is taking fluids by mouth and tolerating that very well. She will need to be able to get all her nutrition by mouth before she can leave the hospital, but we’re confident we’ll be there soon enough (ok, not REALLY soon enough but you know what I mean!)
There have been (and will be) several hiccups along the way but I can confidently state that Tracey will recover from this horrific event. We are VERY grateful for the thoughts, prayers concern and support we have been receiving.
Thanks!!!
Brian
