I know some Mom's don't care for the crew from Gabba Land but I love them. My kids have learned so much from the little songs and my 2 year old daughter can name all of the characters! When I heard that Jack Black was going to be in one of the episodes...I got really excited and I couldn't wait for the episode to be on TV. To really get the most out of this episode you have to see it on the DVD. For one thing...it is in Full Screen Format and might be in HD or something because the colors are so vibrant that it feels like they are IN your living room! Seeing Jack Black in the orange DJ Lance outfit is a hoot and watching him dance in it is worth the price of this DVD.
It features four episodes...the most recent New Friends, and some of our favorites, Find, Greetings and Share. I like this because it is a great collection of my favorite songs that the kids sing all the time with a couple dancey dances thrown in. Two things that I wish the Yo Gabba people would lose are the Biz's Beat of the Day and that freak they call Mark (if you don't know who he is click here) that draws things on a magic white board. Mark has scared the heck out of my little girl ever since she started watching at the tender age of 6 months old. She runs from the room screaming every time.
This would be a great DVD to have in the car if you have one of those home entertainment systems in your vehicle. That is where our copy is going! I just have to make sure I have the remote handy so I can fast forward the Mark section.
Note to DJ Lance: Looking for stuff on the floor with your hand on your forehead is not dancing. Just sayin'
Now I know you all want a copy of this fabulous DVD for your children! And if you don't like the Gabba's and have banned them from your home this would make a lovely gift for your friends kids. The gift that keeps on giving!
Just leave me a comment telling me your favorite or least favorite thing about Yo Gabba Gabba and make sure I can get ahold of you when you win.
This contest is open until April 27 (that's next Monday) at 7am MST. Tell your friends!
If you can't wait that long and you have to own this immediately...go here and order it.
Ok i really dont have a favorite thing to say about this show my kid watches it but i immediately shut it off. Something about the 70's glasses on the fake fro that just creeps me out lol!! The song Theres a party in my tummy is pretty funny though!!
ReplyDeleteTiffany Bobbies frien
Wow you are so right about that freak Mark, hes almost as bad as Mr Noodle on Elmo!!
ReplyDeleteTiffany
Wow - how fun Connie!!! I was so excited to see Jack Black too - he is hilarious!

ok ... i've never seen this show ... so i can't say that it's banned ... and i can't say what i love about it ...
ReplyDeletebut.
i do know that we are going on a really really REALLY long car trip this summer and i'm gonna need some new videos that the kids have never seen in order to make sure that mommy can reduce her advil consumption due to headaches.
so i would LOVE to win!
I love watching DJ Lance dance (or break it down)!
ReplyDeleteNot even Jack Black can redeem any part of this show. At my house we call it No Gabba Gabba.
ReplyDeleteIf this show had been on in the
70s, we would have found that Sid and Marty Kroft were the brains behind it.
(Not entering the contest... I'm just sayin'...)
:-)
man my kids LOVE this show. While it often makes me want to dig my eyes out with a rusty fork I do enjoy the balloon song and the way my kids make Joe get up and dance with them to the super music friend show that sings "Im so happy"
ReplyDeleteHa! I was asked to review that same DVD and have been thinking about what to say. So you'll probably see a Yo Gabba Gabba post from me this week. I loved Jack Black's guest appearance. His dancey dance was great. Not to mention the orange jump suit!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves Gabba Gabba it has taught her lots of songs. The characters look a lil wierd but I think the show is great for kids! It teaches so much without the kids realizing it!
ReplyDeleteI think Biz is scary & Mark isnt too cool. They just dont go with the show that well.
We have the Jack Black episode Dvrd so we havent watched it yet!
Id love to win this for my daughter!!
We are past the Gabba stage so I didn't know who Mark was. I took a peek and...Yikes. That man needs a new stylist!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tiffany, he is a bit Mr. Noodle-ish!
Mark is SCARY.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the show is watching my toddler dance to the music. He loves the "Inside Voice" song, which drives me nuts because I can't get it out of my head.
I'm not a fan of the orange jump suit, something about it repulses me a little. It's just wrong.
We have never watched the show-
ReplyDeletefreaks me out!
Stopping over from SITS to say Hi. I have a giveaway going on now too.
ReplyDeleteWhile I won't enter (since I have no young children, it's nice of you to do this giveaway.
OK I love you for posting this! If I dont win I am going to buy it anyways. I loved Jack Black on the show... we dvr it for the kids. Hmm my favorite thing, would have to be the "Gotta Eat" song! My kids cry when the soap with a cape comes out during the "Clean" episode. (they used to cry when Lance came out too, but now he is cool) I also think Mr. Williams is creepy in the "Weather" show. We watch this show at least once a day. The DVD would be a life saver and we would enjoy watching DJ Lance, break it down.
ReplyDeleteOK... i re-read my comment and its sad that I know all of that. What is worse I limited my answer some. umph!
ReplyDeleteI can't help but to sing along to "Party in my Tummy" when my 3 year old is watching :)
ReplyDeleteThat episode is my absolute favorite. Jack Black in that orange outfit is hilarious! We just happened to see it the other night.
ReplyDeleteI love that show, it's fun and not irritating (ahem, Dora) and the songs are perfect for toddlers - easy to pick up on and short enough that they don't drive Mom CRAZY!!
Thanks for the giveaway.
Lol, I love this show. It's so weird and hip. And a little creepy strange, but I like it! My favorite thing is the "Party in my Tummy" song. I crack up every time. And I love seeing YGG on "The Soup". My husband and I also get an inside laugh about how Moono is really a phallical one-eyed monster, lol. Jack Black DID look great in DJ Lance's suit; too funny!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, Mark IS kinda creepy. As is the chubby lady in the gold suit who dances. Mark is from the group Devo, did you know?
ReplyDelete"There's a party in my tummy, so yummy so yummy!" I love that song and hey, it actually gets my kiddos to eat when I dance and sing it to them. I think it's halarious when the carrots get sad and say they want to go to the party in his tummy. Oreos cry to me all the time too until I eat them ;)-
ReplyDeleteHave you ever seen John C. Reilly do Steve Brule on Adult Swim? If not, do a YouTube search. THAT'S what mark reminds me of. he's the kid version of Dr. Brule.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think Yo Gabba Gabba is FUN and I'm totally disappointed I missed the Jack Black episode b/c Jack Black is probably my weirdest celebrity crush ever.
I just saw this show with Bella for the FIRST time when I was at my parent's house in NM, and it was the one with Jack Black in it. I thought maybe it was an old show and Jack Black was always on it. I wondered if DJ Lance was a real DJ, since they all have names like that. I was really confused about what the show was all about, because we started watching in the middle. Then at the end, I saw that all the characters were dolls in DJ Lance's doll house? I have no idea if I like this show, because it's the only time I've ever seen it, but after reading your review, I'm interested! (We don't have cable or satellite, so I may never see it again if I don't win this)
ReplyDeleteWell, we LOVE the show in our house. They have the coolest guests and the songs are so cool - totally children's songs but with a very hip, house-like sound. The Jack Black episode was so awesome - he looked like he had a lot of fun. LOVE DJ Lance, and we have an entire crew of my daughter's pre-school friends who are going to see him and Brobie in Central Park for Family Day this weekend. So psyched!!! And yes, DJ Lance (Lance Robertson) is a real DJ and musician. Yup, can't say anything bad about the show, lol.
