Steve and Alec do The Oscars

I'm a little bit excited today.

I love movies.  I love the stories and the feeling of being somewhere else for 98 minutes.  I love that some movies make me cry, laugh and not be able to sleep at night.

I love watching The Oscars to see who wins for best actress, actor and picture for the year.  I really love when a movie that I've seen and loved wins.  And Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin should be fun to watch don't you think?

I'm really excited because my friends Sara and Mike invited us to an Oscar Party!!  As soon as I RSVP'd Yes....I went to check out the nominees for Best Picture and I was disappointed that I've only seen one of them.  And the one I have seen...I've seen 50 times. That movie would be UP!

*Movies I've Seen

Best Picture
Avatar
District 9
An Education
The Blind Side
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious
Up In The Air
UP
A Serious Man

Best Lead Actor
Jeff Bridges.....Crazy Heart
George Clooney....Up in the Air
Colin Firth....A Single Man
Morgan Freeman....Invictus
Jeremy Renner....The Hurt Locker

Best Supporting Actor

Christopher Plummer...The Last Station
Stanley Tucci...the Lovely Bones
Christopher Waltz....Inglourious Basterds

Best Lead Actress

Meryl Streep....Julie & Julia

Best Supporting Actress
Penelope Cruz....Nine
Vera Farmiga....Up in the Air
Maggie Gyllenhaal....Crazy Heart
Anna Kendrick....Up in the Air
Mo'Nique....Precious

So....the plan for the next 10 days is to see as many of these movies as we can.  A few of them are available on DVD and some are still in theaters!  I'm really disappointed that I won't be able to see Up in the Air.  There are theaters that are showing all 10 films over two weekends....so I could go see it, but you have to buy a ticket for all of the movies and I don't have that kind of time.

And of course, there is an iPhone App for The Oscars.

How many of these have you seen?  Will you be watching? Which movie do you think will win best picture?

How fun!

I haven't seen any of them, but I've never been a big movie watcher. I do, however, plan on seeing Ghostbusters III in the theater next year!

I have seen Avatar, The Blind Side, The Hurt Locker, Up In the Air and Up. Out of those movies I think Avatar will win Best Picture, but I hope that Sandra Bullock wins Best Lead Actress for The Blind Side (such a good movie- just makes you feel good) The Hurt Locker is good, but I didn't even really consider it a movie, it is just about bombs and war with no real storyline. Avatar is good and I'd see it again, but I don't think it is all that it is hyped up to be. Up in the Air was good, but kind of slow moving, and of course I loved the cartoon UP! Have fun watching all of the movies!

I haven't seen any of them I don't think, sad isn't it? I think they will be great hosts, though. I like Steve Martin and I just love Alec Baldwin.

Monica...Ghostbusters III is coming out? When did they make number 2? That is Calvin's fav movie!!

Michelle...I love Sandra Bullock so I hope she wins but Meryl did such an awesome job playing Julia Child...I might change my mind after I see The Blind Side.

Mrs. D...I can't wait to see Steve and Alec in action!

I saw Up in the Air, and while it was good, I'm not really sure what all the Oscar nominations are about. It was just good, not phenominal. Let me know what you think if you get to see it!

Yay!! We are going to an Oscar party too, my first one. :) I have a lot of catching up to do as well.

I saw Avatar in 3D at the movies and I thought it was awesome. The effects of course. The plot was contrived and over done, but the effects totally made up for it.

I really, really wanted to see The Blind Side, but I never made it to the theater to see it.

Heather! This is my first Oscar party too!

Jennifer...We're planning to see both Avatar and The Blind Side before the party. I'd also like to see Crazy Heart.

Love movies in out house as well. I have seen
Avatar
District 9
&
UP

Of those 3 I would have to say avatar would take it. It was pretty well done.

Have fun at your oscar party. Share details I have never been to one.

I've only seen Blind Side and Invictus, and both were terrific.

I love the Oscars, love all award shows, so I'm really looking forward to this!

Before I had kids I just thought the day the Oscars were on was just the best day of the year, I would just get so excited! I still enjoy them, but it's different now. In addition to the 2 you've seen I have also seen District 9 and Inglorious Basterds. Both were great (except I had to shield my eyes from some of the violent parts in Basterds). I think we will watch The Hurt Locker this weekend.

I am embarrassed to say that I haven't seen any!!! I read The Lovely Bones and my hubby saw District 9. I haven't seen much since C was born. I am hoping to fit one or two in before the Oscars. I am so excited about Steve and Alec :)

Oh good Lord, I've only seen Up - but we might go see Avatar tomorrow. I can say, however, that I've seen New Moon 3 times :) Wonder why that one's not on the list...

I am so excited for you! An Oscar party sounds so fun! I did one last year - although it was just a family party. But it was so fun to plan out the menu, make favors and get festive.

I haven't seen most of the movies nominated. Only the kids ones...

XOXO
