Sanjay is my neighbor...right next door and this was my first time meeting him. Except that he wasn't interested in meeting me. He stared at the floor as he walked swiftly past me...having just put his clothes in the dryer.
I'm sure he could tell why I was there...what with the giant white laundry basket that held my unmentionables. I tried to say hello to him but he wouldn't look me in the eye. Whatever...maybe young men from India don't look old white ladies in the eye.
An hour later I went down with another giant laundry basket to find that he hadn't retrieved his clothes yet. I was pretty sure he saw me...but maybe not. Maybe I'm invisible.
While I was watching The Young and The Restless at 11am...I told the kids that we were going to the store when it was over. We needed milk and I needed a few more ingredients for Red Beans and Rice that I planned to make for dinner.
I put their shoes on, gathered my list, my coupons, my purse and my phone. And then we walked out the door and realized that we couldn't leave the parking lot.
Someone is moving and blocking the driveway to the back parking lot. Dang it!
I wrangled the crying children back into the apartment and tried to explain to them that I can't get my giant SUV out of the driveway. That we can't go to the store. I'm sooooo sorry.
Then because I didn't have anything else to do...I vacuumed, put my laundry away, made a play area for the kids on the patio and ate a pop tart.
I kept checking to see if the truck was still there...and it was. And then I saw Sanjay. Sanjay is the one moving. Sure would have been nice of him to mention that he'd be blocking the driveway when he ignored me in the laundry room this moring.
At 3:30pm...iKeith finally stopped ignoring my iChat messages and I informed him that the Red Beans and Rice was not to be. Not today. And he suggested that I WALK with TWO preschoolers to the store.
As If!
12 witty remarks:
Id tell him to make his own dinner after telling me to walk to the store!
What a day! You can't say you didn't try. iKeith needs to walk with the children to the store for dinner ingredients, then he won't ever suggest you do it again. :)
Maybe that's why he avoided you. Because he was embarrassed that he would be in the way the rest of the day.
What? Walk to the store?! Did you slap him?
You know why Sanjay wouldn't talk to you right?
Remember, it's because you look like a bitch!
And iKeith is a prick for suggesting you walk to the store with a little girl that doesn't like to walk.
Who parks a moving truck blocking the driveway for the day? WTF? I'd pull my car up behind it and beep my horn until it was moved. Maybe he'd hear that! Lame!
It's just rude to block a way out for everyone else!! Hope your next neighbor is a little more friendly...
Amen that he is moving!!!

Ooooo, that iKeith is treading on thin ice with that statement...WALK to the store with two kiddos and groceries on the way back? I think not!
I would blame Sanjay too.
You're bringing back so many fond memories *sarcasm* of apartment living.
Walk to the store with two little ones??? My husband makes suggestions like that to which I respond with multiple eye rolls and occasional sighs.
How rude was Sanjay? I hope that he was moving out, at least (she says hopefully)
Here's to a better day tomorrow -- one that includes red beans and rice.

My husband once mentioned something similar to me (only it was Target, which is 2 blocks away). I told I would do it for every trip that month, IF he did it once and thought it was no big deal. He tried to be all macho and went with the two little girls. He came home silently, with half of the stff on the list and NEVER mentioned it again. ;-)
What a horrible guy... I think you should be glad he moved.
At least you got to spend some extra time with the kids and got to eat one of those yummy strawberry Pop Tarts.
