I know, I know. I need to get out of here.
Here's the problem....to get into a house in the area near Alex's school, requires that we double our rent. We're not prepared to do that...yet. And based on the economy and how unstable it still is...we've decided to keep our expenses as low as possible. I realize that this is NOT the American way. We are bucking the system!
Back to the story.....
The people that moved in the same weekend that we moved in, moved three weeks ago. I had a really hard time that day when their moving truck was here because I was jealous!!
When they left, they decided to throw out a mattress and box spring.
| Exhibit A |
This mattress has been rained on and sat in 90 degree heat. It is disgusting!
Keith went to pay the rent on Friday morning and I asked him to say something about the mattress because I'm tired of looking at it.
He came back shaking his head and did a great impression of our apartment manager. She has an excuse for EVERYTHING. She claims that she thought it had been taken care of already and that Mick (the squirrel hunter) was out of town until Tuesday.
Do you smell that? It's B**ky's pants on fire! Liar, liar...get it?
Sunday Morning....I snapped this picture.
The half finished gazebo is a whole other story....that I'm planning to tell when it is finished. This has been going on for TWO MONTHS!
I am now taking bets on how long this mattress will be here. If you guess correctly....you could win a prize! LIKE me on Facebook for updates on Mattressgate!
UPDATE: July 6th 5:44pm
This afternoon....the mattresses were moved.
They were moved right in front of my BRAND NEW CAR!
I was beyond irritated so I moved my car. I stewed and posted on facebook and texted friends and then I called the corporate office and raised the biggest stink you've ever heard.
10 minutes later....
Mattresses Gone!

Hmm, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
ReplyDeleteCause this seriously reminded me that I need to finish some things around here!! lol
But like Mick,*chuckle, chuckle* my brain is not here!
That counts, right?
My bet is July 25. When the squirrel hunter is out of town again.
ReplyDeletehah - I love the last pic.
ReplyDeleteFor one how hard is it for the garbage guys to get out of their truck and throw them in the truck? Secondly, if they're not going to do that, how hard is it for the maintenance dude to take care of it? He's obviously not doing anything else, like catching squirrels or finishing gazebos!
Apartment living blows.
Oh and I bet July 16
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh dear. That's not a pretty picture. I'm going to guess August 3rd. Just because it doesn't seem like anyone is too motivated to do anything about it.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. We'd be gone too if it weren't such an affordable deal.
ReplyDelete(Now I know why it's so cheap, tons of older neighbors who have nothing to do but fixate on others.)
I'm seriously lucky that my neighbors aren't taking pictures and blogging about my obnoxious yard! Sigh ... wait ... maybe they are! :(
ReplyDeleteDo these people have bosses to talk to? everyone has a boss. They need to be reported to him or her who ever they are!
ReplyDeleteWet stinky mattress, now that is just gross.
ReplyDeleteOoooooOOOOOoooooohhh!!!
ReplyDeleteGross!
But, seriously, CONGRATS on BUCKING THE AMERICAN WAY!!! The American way (that most people take advantage of) is the reason the rest of us (meaning me and you) are in this shit hole of an economical puddle!
Ok, now that is just insane!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG. Your apartment really sucks ass. Is that the view from your window? Please say no.
ReplyDeletemattressgate cracks me up!! we lived somewhere like that once... but we also had crackheads. woohoo :(
ReplyDeleteWow! Wow!
ReplyDeleteFrom the sounds of your apartment manager, I'm guessing...forever? But let's hope for your sake, not so long!
ReplyDeleteSometimes the hardest thing to do is the best thing. Like staying in a crappy apartment so you can afford something better later on. I'm sure the payout will be worth it in the long run.
ReplyDeleteYou can't move - I would miss these stories so!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you photographed your "evidence"! Made me chuckle :) maybe wouldn't be if I lived there, but vicariously it's pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteMattressgate. LOL. If it's anything like the management at my old apartment complex, I'll be sending prayers your way. Boy have I got some stories, too....
ReplyDeleteoh my....
ReplyDeleteyou know I'm all into stories like this consider my asshat neighbor stories you have probably read a time or two... What could you do to get their attention-- this is going to drive me nuts....
ReplyDeleteOOOOh-- call the front office and tell them you heard of a mattress and box spring that they had for sale and were wanting to know how much it costs? You heard there was slight damage but are still interested.... also ask if they deliver. I can call if you want.
That's the first thought I had.
Glad to see that the problem has been taken care of :) Wonder what's next!!!!
ReplyDeleteI know this has been frustrating for you, but it's hilarious!!! So glad those mattresses finally got moved. They're probably sitting in someone's house right now (YUCK!)...
ReplyDeleteOh man! What a ridiculous situation. That is seriously no fun! I. Hate. Apartments.
ReplyDeleteI really really don't know how you put up with it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I HATE that her name is the same as mine - yuck!
~Becca
First of all good for you for bucking the American way.
ReplyDeleteSecond of all good for you for making a stink and getting things taken care of.
Good for you guys for going against the American Way and staying another year! Love the picture with Mick out of town :) Glad the mattresses are gone!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! At least you know how to get things done from now on!!! ;o)
