Trophy Wives Don't Work...DUH

Good Morning Friends!

It's Tuesday and I have something to Talk To Us Tuesday! Thank you Impulsive Addict and Seriously Shawn to this opportunity.

A few days ago, I mentioned to iKeith that I'd be registering our daughter for Kindergarten in a couple weeks.  We talked about how nice it will be to already know the teacher (assuming some people in our class don't get her fired) and that we already know the drill.

Then.....iKeith suggested that I go back to work so that we could put her in the full day Kindergarten program that costs $300 a month.

I was dumbfounded.  I've been a stay at home mom Trophy Wife for 6 years and we've been very happy with the arrangement.

I asked him what kind of job he thought I could get for 5 hours a day and he informed me that he thought I should get a job arranging flowers.

Flower Arrangement

First of all, my employment background includes the following:

  • Auto Parts Delivery Driver
  • Manager of an Auto Parts Store
  • Service Manager of an Auto Repair Shop
  • Manager of a gas station
  • Receptionist
  • Customer Service Rep for a Collection Agency

And second of all, I have never arranged a flower in my entire life!

It was then, that I informed him that Trophy Wives don't work.

  1. I still have almost 2 years until both girls are in full day school.

The thought of going back to work is perplexing because there's still sick days, holiday breaks, summer vacation, etc.

Maybe we should become super famous bloggers (or the new Republican Oprah and Martha Stewart).

  2. Good for you! I have a trophy wife (aka stay at home Mom) who doesn't have a job. And she works like a dog with all the stuff she has going on. My job is easier than hers.

  3. Maybe you SHOULD arrange flowers! That would be totally random. :)

  6. Um. Hello?! iKeith? Don't you KNOW that it might make a little cash, but only enough to pay for full day AND BESIDES SAHM TIME IS PRICELESS! Duh.

  8. He spoke such horrible and cruel words to you! Are you okay?

I've been a Trophy Wife for almost 18 years and have loved every minute of it...well almost every minute!

Counting down the days my friend. WHere do we stand on the countdown? We may need a ticker!

Thanks for linking up, we love you long time!

  9. Men are so clueless!! Keep your full time job as a trophy wife. I arranged flowers for church for awhile and it gave me such anxiety I had to bring my mom in to help me and then I quit ;) It was HARD!

  15. Gah! What's wrong with him? Did you recently hit him in the head? First he likes the stupid annoying girl on Bachelor and now he's asking about you going back to work?

  16. You told him the truth!!!

I can't imagine being a domestic engineer wonder for 6 years then having someone suggest I go back to work. I mean - THAT'S your job!!! And who would want to leave it??

    Stand your ground Connie!

  17. Oh, but you DO work, my dear friend - you BLOG!!! You can make money doing it (and I assume you make a little). It's my dream to become a "professional" blogger, author or free-lance writer. Ultimately, I'd like to be able to work without having to wear a bra.

Pursue some more writing opportunities - who knows what you may find?

  18. Okay, that sounds a lot like the conversations Jeremy and I have :( And I don't like it one bit! I have been at home for 9 1/2 years, and I don't plan on ever going back, thankyouverymuch!

  19. I have been a trophy wife since 2000. I cannot imagine going to work. I think he likes having me here too much when he gets home to ever utter those words..

  20. well put. hope he got the message. trophy wives definitely do not work. my mom is a perfect example of that. hasn't worked pretty much their entire marriage (30 years)

  21. thank you! the hubs and I had this convo earlier this week about my going to work once Avery starts school. fun fact: I will have graduated (with a degree in public relations) but never worked a day in that field in nearly 9 years. like someone will want to hire me. pfffft I'd be MUCH better suited to just being cute ;)

  22. Um... they ABSOLUtELY do not!! I need to remember this line. :) I have stayed home since 2005 and it will be another 2 years before all my kiddos are in school.

  23. I don't know how Mom's handle being at home. I have the hardest time on the weekends alone with the kids trying not to go insane. I could get used to it as long as my kids still went to daycare... hubs didnt think that would work so well. Why is kindergarten $300 bucks? Isnt' that free, like public education or am I lost?

  24. what is wrong with that man!!?? He should know by now that it's the law!! trophy Wives do not work!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Stand your ground, friend! And maybe claim a sudden late onset of a floral allergy....

    ReplyDelete
  26. OOohhh NO!!!
If you aer a SAHM & can make it then why one God's green earth would he want you to work just to pay for daycare. So glad you set him straight... DAMN right you are a trophy wife & therfore you do not work!
I better get myself into trophy wife status so that my hubs doesn't ask me to go back to work. Good thing Aliya is only 2. Wheew!
